HMMM... 00:51
Low fruit or high risk, grow through a crisis Or cave to your vices, lose sight of what life is It’s priceless what you can learn from what the price is I write THIS in a state of being that feels lifeless The MIC IS my confession booth, the truth’s timeless Despondent but still hope that I’m known for my kindness And guidance, and never choosing finance over science So, let me smell the roses while the sun shine on my iris Is this some form of a cure, or just a virus? Disguises; the devils game plan to surprise us I realize this, hence all the effort and the wryness I’d define this as a time capsule of where my mind is
2.
Record Time 03:21
Thoughts transition to words under prime conditions Primal visions, rhymes that arouse suspicion A mile a minute, I guess the direction’s intended But then again, time and distance doesn’t measure commitment Or consequences, we only catch the truth through glimpses The proof’s expensive, cost your peace of mind, plus interest My brain’s a prism, I went from pot to piston You got to listen to fully comprehend my mission I fought the system, sometimes all you gain is division At times it feels like it was all for naught But I sought for wisdom NOT permission My rules were written By the same person riding the rhythm I rhyme with conviction Inaction is not a decision It’s its own wormhole, which is not so forgiving The fallen has risen, reborn with ten times the ambition From crawling to sprinting, let my chest rip through the ribbon… In record time, and now it’s on a record and spinning In record time, I’m still expecting mine I’m next in line while I’m still perfecting rhymes In record time, I’m still expecting mine I’m next in line while I’m still perfecting rhymes In record time, I’m still expecting mine I’m next in line while I’m still perfecting rhymes Ending or beginning Befriending or pretending Giving or lending Grimacing or grinning Endlessly preparing, this is a planned flaw I’m oversharing, in contrast to man’s law So I ask ya’ll, what’s the last straw? What do you stand for? The answers help me tell the coons from the panthers A hint of what their stance is, a bettering of chances Unsettling enhancements, improvements, advancements! As sands shift, time is aligned with the planets And the rhyme…walks a fine line like semantics Childish antics are not the way I choose to emote But I’ll admit, denying it's a slippery slope The world’s cutthroat, I’m on my last dose of hope Or so it seems until the next song gets wrote The wrong approach is not the route I choose the most When views oppose, I find a way to juxtapose For friends, not foes, yeah, let’s just suppose It’s a must that a bust these flows My muse is prose In record time, I’m still expecting mine I’m next in line while I’m still perfecting rhymes In record time, I’m still expecting mine I’m next in line while I’m still perfecting rhymes In record time, I’m still expecting mine I’m next in line while I’m still perfecting rhymes

Soul Merger 01:36
In ’23… Imma be 53 Making my best song’s ever, true fresh MC I love to write, it helps calm the stress in me Especially when I let the style flow free Then I pick up the pieces of the word debris Arrange em perfectly for the world to see …Or rather hear, but also occurred to me Visual impact helps the verse to be Seen + heard, I mull over every word Nouns and verbs, inspired by the sounds of birds I found the urge, to break my soul down to thirds Review each part, and see what parts I need to nourish A pound of courage is not nearly enough to discourage The forces of evil, their army is as vast as the earth is So my purpose, is try to make some music to reverse this Perhaps in vain, still, the attempt can’t be worthless I’m not purist, I’m the type to stare in the mirror Blur out the world until my inner vision gets clearer Mind of Akira, sacrifice myself for the GREATER good At least I would, if I thought it worked in our favor The fruits of my labor, still left a growl in my navel I’m proud I’ve been able, to bring some style to the table Stay true to self, still keep my foundation stable Oh, how they betray you, speaking of the ones that we label As Innocent but their intent could be painful or fatal No matter what they do, Imma try to shine to the fullest Blossom like tulips, and let my soul merge with the music Yeah, let my soul merge with the music…

The Ledger 01:05
These are dark times Ripe for some from the heart rhymes Here’s mine, heartbreaking like the prison pipeline It’s fight time, late news if you’re just now seeing the clues A REMINDER to those who I am passionately speaking to We can do anything we truly strive for We live through some hard times, fighting these mind wars I find FLAWS in self then I alter my views Like water; fuse with any state you could possibly choose This is my BLUES, anxiety is eating my time more I REFUSE to walk this world hindered by blinders Keepers or finders, resulting in a plus or a minus I trust I’m the finest person I could be in this moment No question, my kindness known to be my prime opponent This rhyme, I wrote it thinking of my FINAL moment That time I don’t know it, you see, death doesn’t need a motive I need to focus, third wiseman, he’s devoted (a poet) The seed I’ll sow it, to see the mysteries decoded My needs compulsive, passion as vast as an ocean My love explosive, balanced doses of pure emotion Here’s to hoping, we can pick up our pieces together This is a letter…. whiting out the red in the ledger Whiting out the red in ledger Yeah, writing what you read in the letter
5.
It’s plain to see, nightmares have came to be And, painfully, that’s not so strange to me Explain to me why they act so angrily Draining me, just to BE is living dangerously But thankfully, I plan to fight till we live chain-free No changing me, I only evolve and problem solve Break down walls, always trying to tame the beast To say the least, I’m on a quest for peace In perfect harmony, probably like the angels be That’s my goal, to feel like I’m in total control Take hold of my soul, try to remold and make whole Live grateful, giving out love by the plate-full But, Eh YO, if the pressure takes it toll… I guess it’s all the same to me
6.
So close your eyes, prepare your inner-mind for a surprise And that applies, to long time listeners and passerby’s, who ask to try Just a taste of flavor so I gave em just enough to pacify Don’t ask me why? If I deny, don’t ask me twice First class advice, last person to not heed it, had to cash the price This clash with mice, hoping that they signed up for a sacrifice I serve em right, then taunt them in the afterlife Don’t have to write like this, it’s just the bliss feels immaculate That’s half the why, the other part’s the study of the art See if the rules apply, the tools rely on open minds They’re hard to find, but still I keep my sights on the prize I surmise. I guess that’s just the passion of the vice The Passion of the vice Wrong or right, I guess that’s just the passion of the vice Wrong or right, I guess that’s just the passion of the vice Wrong or right, I guess that’s just the passion of the vice Wrong or right, I guess that’s just the passion of the vice

3rd Down 01:38
Yeah, I’m showing grace in my trails, Patient but I’ll stand my ground, plant feet down Hmmm…just me and my family now Ban me? HOW!? I don’t even plan to be around See, I’m bound for a place where each face has smiles Including mine, on my way, and my pace allows Me to race for miles, yeah, embrace the clouds… Let me thoughts bounce around Then rain down to keep me aligned with the ground That’s not profound, just the way that I get down I’ll stop your run, all strikes once I hit mound How that sound? I don’t even play the game I laid the blame, still things just stayed the same I preyed the plains, searching for some needful things Some people bring more drama with their whole routine I know, I’ve scene, it’s obscene I blow off steam, but that’s how I lost my sheen I’m not a machine Nerve endings feels SO extreme My love is deeply, solely, there is no in-between When I was 18 left home to follow a dream I guess I finally made it if you see this song on your SCREEN A long journey, slowly on a balance beam Challenging to say the least, let some pressure release… Then we convene and say peace Peace.

about

This is a song 7 EP, but most of the songs are under two minutes long. The full vocal EP is only about 11 minutes, but all instrumentals and acapellas are also included. There will be two lyric videos for the EP; "Record Time" and "Soul Merger" (title track)>

I've known a-one for somewhere between 15-20 years or so, bonding over our love and appreciation for Hip Hop. About 15 or so years ago, a-one gave me a couple CDRs with his production, including some demos he was working on, which back then were largely for me to use on the radio. Fast-forward to some recent discussions about those beats, as well as me asking what other beats he had in the stash, and he sent a few more over, and not long after, we had a "Soul Merger".

The meaning of "Soul Merger" is about trying to get re-grounded and aligned with your truest self, your passions, and most important goals. It's about trying to become one with yourself, so that you can become one with the universe.

-Shouts and Inspirations: The Galesburg and Peoria Hip Hop scenes, The Dynospectrum, Dug Infinite, Atmosphere, Wu-tang, Royal Fam, Jay-Z, Del, Freestyle Fellowship, Definite Vacation 4 Suckas, The Coup, Erule, Dilated Peoples, Binary Star (esp. “Slang Blade” and “Reality Check”), Easy Mo Bee, The RZA, The Future Sound, Downtown Science, Prince Paul, Lord of the Rings, Kool Moe Dee, Brother Ali, and the sounds of a-one, which inspired me to forge a “Soul Merger”.
